Police officers pedal Hercules Ryders Expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari
 

A team of 9 police officers took a cycling expedition from Kashmir to Kanyakumari to promote the fitness and to boost the image of the Indian Police Services among the younger generation and inspire them to be part of the prestigious services.

In association with TI Cycles, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) organised a 38-day expedition covering about 3,840 kms. The objective of the pedalling mission: To create awareness of the services rendered by the police towards the nation and the people.

An eight-member police team took on the mission, cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The expedition was led by GUJ Sastry, Joint Director, National Police Academy, Hyderabad

The Tour came through Chennai, where the entire top police brass, including Director Genral of Police (Law and Order) KP Jain, Additional Director - General of Police K Radhakrishnan and City Police Commissioner T Rajendran, lined up at the Marina Beach to welcome them. Said GUJ Sastry, "We also wanted to highlight the importance of physical fitness and how cycling is a good exercise to keep one's self fit".

Greeting the riders of the expedition, Dr D Raghuram of TI Cycles said, “The aim of Hercules Ryders Expedition was to share a dream of “unity, love and care for your fellow beings and for the environment in which we live-in” with the millions of people across the country.


Mr Arun Alagappan, TI Cycles said “Cycling is now getting on to become a part of common man’s agenda of good health. What best could have been a way to spread this message across the country, than a cycling expedition with our police officers. We thank the nine officers who took up the expedition with such a sporting spirit. Associating ourselves with SVPNPA to motivate the younger generation to join the civil services was a great experience and we look forward to conduct many more adventures activities in the near future.”
