The Engineering Design Center of TII became operational in
2005-06. The center has been established to build technical competency in three
dimensional modeling and stress analysis to support the business objectives of
the various divisions. This is in line with the changing business scenario in
India and the rest of the world. The global trend is shifting from product
manufacturing and testing of parts for validation to computerized design,
simulation, prototyping and performance testing. Currently, major automobile
OEMs and autocomponent suppliers worldwide are setting up such facilities.
TII’s state-of-the-art computing facilities and software
will be available to do virtual simulation and prototyping of new products to
enhance our product development capabilities. Virtual prototyping will assist
the design of robust manufacturing processes and in rapid tool development.
The focus areas of Engineering Development Center of TII are:
| 1. |
Simulation of roll forming of
open sections and tubes. This results in better design of
rolls for superior quality of tubes and roll formed sections. |
| 2. |
Design of cold drawing and
extrusion dies for manufacture of non-round tubes. |
| 3. |
Application engineering of
tubular parts and roll formed sections to provide better value
for customers. |
| 4. |
Design of sheet metal parts
and tool development for doorframes and chain components. |
| 5. |
Analysis and modeling of
crash, fatigue and various types of loading of tubes, strips,
roll formed sections and chains and bicycles. |
These competencies developed at this center allows TII to
deal with confidence with customers globally and helps in integrating our
development processes with those of our customers.
